Arrivals and Departures

Without Departures there would not be arrivals. Departures are paradoxically sad and happy; on one end there is a “so long” on the other end there is a warm “welcome”.  Departures are the starting point of a journey, the beginning of a pilgrimage, traveling with the goal in mind and heart to get to a place where we will be welcomed, loved, taken care of and feel like home; elements which make us endure every step of the trip.

Travelers are champions; they prepare body, heart and soul, they get ready and set every thing that will leave behind in place; travelers endure the heartache of a good-bye to a familiar place and people to endure long hours of the trip with its unexpected hardships. Travelers count all worth to get the most precious reward: two loving arms holding us close; the unsurpassing feeling of a embrace sinking into the most inner part of our souls.

My sister, Tutis, she is my champion today, her last day of her two-week visit. I will spend every second today enjoying her smile, her friendship and love and tomorrow we will go to the airport where two weeks ago we rejoiced for seeing each other again; only this time I will remember departures and arrivals are part of life.

Tutis, I am happy you came; I am happy you go back home, I am already missing you and waiting for the next time.
