Cotoca

On my second weekend of the school’s two-week winter break I had to go Santa Cruz to pick up my passport with my residence visa for Bolivia, I was invited to attend a college graduation ceremony of one the Christian School alumna, teach Sunday School in a church and I also took the opportunity to visit the small town of Cotoca, located 20 Km (12.5 miles) east of Santa Cruz. Cotoca is well-known for its pottery shops and its  sugarcane molasses and candied goods, the central plaza and colonial-style church are the main attractions.

About half way on the road to Cotoca there is a Botanical Garden with over 186 hectares and approx. 4 miles (6 km) of hiking paths, small lagoon, tree and plant species, scenic overlook and more.  The ticket costs Bs. 3 (about USD $ 0.40). A place to learn about Bolivian flora and for calmly and restfully walk alone or with a friend.
