That Sweet Substance

That sweet substance, organic, odorless compound commonly known as table sugar, has been classified as a poison by some health experts, but is the major element in confectionary and desserts, has doubled its price and is found in scarcity these days in Bolivia.

Sugarcane, the plant from which sugar is made, can be grown profitably in the tropical department (state) of Santa Cruz de la Sierra where there are many sugar refineries. Of all the items for consumption that could be expensive and hard to find in this region, sugar should be the last!

So what’s happening? It seems that the rider on the black horse in Revelation, who foreshadows a time when an entire day’s wage will barely yield enough food to survive, has come early! Sugar is not chief food for people, but is affecting the economy and many areas of life. We might just get used to what it appears to be a global situation and continue proclaiming the good and best news of him who is saying: “I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.” (Rev.3:18) What win win business deal! These are true riches!

How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psalm 119:103 NASB

    Saludos.
