A visit to Imbochi

Imbochi, approximately 31 miles south of Camiri, is the name of the rural community where the “Jaime H. Dunn” orphanage is located. It is run by Mrs. Eida Dunn, an extraordinary brave woman who after the death of her husband has continued to serve the Lord. Most of the kids that live there have been taken out of prison where their parents are serving their sentence. Needless to say, a penal complex is not a good environment for little children. Mrs. Dunn provides them with shelter, food, education and teaches them the Word of God.

Last Saturday I took the teenagers of the AWANA JV club to spend an afternoon working and sharing with these children.

They did an incredible job in showing love and leadership abilities.

They had a servant attitude, took responsibility well and demonstrated a positive attitude through mosquito bites. Out of their own initiative they brought delicious orange pound cake for everybody.

Teens will sometimes have their cranky moments, smart mouths and can be very rude, including Christians; but everything changes when they feel they’re “in charge”, when they take the activity as their very own and when the ideas come out of their versatile minds.

The end result was a good fun time for all and profitable experience for the JV club members of the Camiri church.

  1. Brother,

I always love hearing about the school through your blog. I had never heard about the Dunn orphanage. Do they have assembly affiliation? I didn’t find her in the handbook. Do you know if they have a website or if there is any other way to be in contact?

Thank you for taking the time to blog. It is very useful in bringing to my forgetful mind, the need for prayer for the work down there.
