Back to the Classroom

P1040218Through the years we, at the Christian School, have received complains from some of my male students and their parents about the stitch projects they have to make in the handcraft class. How this assignment became an academic requirement for both genders in a culture where boys are to be machos, I don’t know. We simply tell them it is part of the curriculum, it won’t hurt them, it could come in handy sometime in the future and the faster they get over with it, they can move onto another task that involves paint, paper or wood.

This year I decided to go BACK TO THE CLASSROOM as a student in this class and undertake the same skill challenge.  This class is once a week on Fridays. I have attended two classes and I am on my way to learn the different types of embroidery stitches. I hope to gain a deeper understanding of my students and relate to them. My expectations are that as they see me, doing, struggling and finally accomplishing, they can have a better attitude and do their work with enthusiasm and confidence. I anticipate great handiwork from students and myself!
